What it's for

Pushing leaf growth where nitrogen alone is short: turf, rice, leafy crops, and correcting a pale stand mid-season.

When to apply

In the growing season, split into small applications rather than one large one.

Handling and storage

Keep absolutely dry — urea draws water from the air and cakes. Do not apply to wet leaves or in strong sun, and water in after spreading.

About Sanwa products

Why growers choose it

How to use Sanwa Fertilizer

Using it is three steps

Simple application. Consistent results.

  1. 01

    A little at a time

Split the season's nitrogen into several small applications rather than one large one.

  2. 02

    Keep it off the leaves

Do not apply to wet foliage or in strong sun — both scorch the crop.

  3. 03

    Water it in

Urea works once dissolved. Always water after spreading.

Questions growers ask

How does it compare with ammonium sulfate?

Urea is 46% nitrogen against roughly 21% for 硫安, so the same nitrogen takes less than half the weight. It carries no sulfur.

Can I dissolve it and spray it on the leaves?

Some growers do, but too strong a solution scorches. Concentration and frequency vary a lot by crop — follow the bag and your prefecture's 施肥基準.

Should I spread it before rain?

Light rain washes it in; heavy rain washes it away. Water it in yourself, or watch the forecast.

Can I use this in organic growing?

No. Urea is a manufactured fertilizer and is not permitted in JAS-certified organic production. Use one of the composts instead.

It has gone solid in the bag. Is it ruined?

No — caked urea is chemically unchanged. Break it up before spreading, and keep the next bag dry and closed.

Can I use it alongside a compost?

Many growers do: the compost builds the soil, and the urea tops up nitrogen alone as the crop grows.

How much should I apply?

It depends on the crop and the soil. Follow the bag, your soil test and your prefecture's 施肥基準 — and ask us if you are unsure.
